The first egg has hatched. They laid 6 eggs total. It looks like egg number 2 has started to hatch as well.
I have been waiting about 2 years and the Crimson Bellied Conure pair have laid their first egg. I will be watching each day to see if more eggs are laid and hope they are good parents and hatch them. Very exciting!
All our green cheeks are reserved but we do have a very sweet female adult senegal parrot available for adoption. She talks and loves to have her head scratched.
Exciting news. The babies are weaned! They are eating on their own and gaining weight. I have not had to feed them for two days now and instead of losing a few grams of weight they gained weight. It's a little sad to see them as big birds now ready for their new homes but exciting at the same time as each of these wonderful birds are going to three wonderful homes. Today was a big day for the pineapples. I didn't feed them today and at 7 pm I weighed them and each one of them weighed the same as they did yesterday. I will start weighing them every day now to see how they do but I suspect they are going to be ready to go to their new homes very very soon. Boy how fast they are growing. Today one of the chicks flew over to me and then flew up to a light fixture. They are starting to eat on their own and love coming out to play. |
